Cannabis May Enhance Sexual Satisfaction More Than Alcohol

A recent Spanish study comparing the effects of cannabis and alcohol on sexual experiences has revealed some interesting findings:

The study suggests that while alcohol might make people more likely to engage in sexual encounters, cannabis appears to enhance the quality of the experience. Cannabis users reported greater sensitivity and sexual satisfaction compared to when they consumed alcohol.

Published in Revista Internacional de Androlgía, this research is claimed to be the first in Spain to compare the effects of the country’s two most popular drugs on sexual experiences. The online survey included 483 participants who had previously used both substances.

Key Findings:

   – Improvement: 19% of respondents said cannabis improved their sexual experience, while only 8.4% said the same about alcohol.

   – Satisfaction: Cannabis users reported feeling more relaxed, experiencing increased excitement and orgasm, and having greater sensitivity to physical contact.

   – Duration: Alcohol consumption was associated with longer sexual encounters, particularly among frequent users. For less frequent users, there was no significant difference in duration between alcohol and cannabis use.

   – Mixed Effects: Many respondents reported that both substances had mixed effects on their sexual experiences, either improving some aspects while worsening others, or varying in effect from one encounter to another.

This study adds to a growing body of research on cannabis and sexual function:

   – Frequency: Cannabis use is generally associated with more frequent sexual activity.

   – Desire and Enjoyment: Studies suggest cannabis can increase sexual desire and enjoyment.

   – Dosage: Lower doses of cannabis may be more beneficial for sexual satisfaction than higher doses.

   – Gender Differences: The effects of cannabis on sexual function may differ between men and women.

The authors emphasized that the results should be interpreted cautiously due to the non-random nature of the survey. This limitation is important to consider when evaluating the findings. Despite the focus on drug effects, most survey respondents stated they preferred not to use any substances during sex. However, when choosing between the two, they favored cannabis over alcohol.

This study contributes to our understanding of how different substances might affect sexual experiences, highlighting potential benefits of cannabis in this area while acknowledging the complexity of the topic.
